VASTU SUTRA: The exact east or shuddha prachi is identified with the help of a conch. This east is different from magnetic east used by most of the vastushastri. A compass can never determine shuddha east as it works for magnetic directions only.
Vastu lays emphasis on true or shuddha east which is identified by shanku sthapana. Please note that there is a difference between the two and use of magnetic compass is faulty.
